Murder Mystery 2 Tier List: Weapon Rarity Tiers, Ranked

Murder Mystery 2 Oct 05, 2026 Agent-api assisted

MM2 weapons are cosmetic only. This tier list ranks the seven official rarity tiers from Common to Unique instead of volatile community value numbers.

A Murder Mystery 2 tier list is usually presented as a ranking of knives and guns by trading value. This one is deliberately different: it ranks MM2 weapons by rarity tier, which is a fixed, verifiable progression in the game, rather than by fluctuating community value numbers that change week to week.

One thing to get out of the way first, because it is the most misunderstood fact about MM2 gear: weapons are purely cosmetic. A Legendary knife does exactly the same damage as the default knife you spawn with. Rarity affects how rare an item is to obtain and how much collectors care, not how it performs in a round. There is no "best" knife that makes you win more.

How rarity actually works

Every weapon skin in Murder Mystery 2 sits in one of seven rarity tiers. The tiers run from the default items you get simply by joining the game, up through the ultra-rare drops and limited-time releases.

Tier 1 — Common

The baseline. The Default Knife and Default Gun are granted to every player on their first join, which makes them the most accessible tier in the game by a wide margin. Other Commons include a handful of basic historical rewards. Recognisable names at this level include the Reptile, Infected, Neon, Goo and TNL lines — several of which originally came from redeemable codes and have since expired.

Tier 2 — Uncommon

A modest step up. Uncommons tend to be event rewards and purchasable pack items rather than pure code drops. If you own something from a limited-time event you played with a friend years ago, this is usually where it sits.

Tier 3 — Rare

Rare skins start to matter to collectors. They typically come from store bundles, passes and event content rather than from being handed out. At this point it is worth checking what a specific item actually is before trading it away — the gap between Rare and the next tier is where a lot of people overvalue their own items.

Tier 4 — Legendary

The mainstream collector tier. Legendaries are the ones most players are aiming at, and the tier where trading becomes an actual activity rather than occasional swaps. The Mythic Sword of the Tides and Bombo's Survival Knife sit around here and are among the most recognisable items in the game.

Tier 5 — Godly

Godly is the tier most people mean when they say "top knife" in MM2. Weapons here are the ones that hold their value, and the tier is small enough that recognising the names matters. Rupture, Red Flare, Predator, Cavern Gun, Vampire, Cursed and Nightsky are the widely-known entries. Several of the most valuable items in the game across all tiers live here, which is why godly-tier trading generates so much noise.

Tier 6 — Ancient

Ancient is above Godly and considerably rarer. Chroma-variants of earlier weapons often land here, alongside genuinely scarce pieces. If you are not sure which tier something belongs to, this is where mistakes get expensive — check before you trade.

Tier 7 — Unique

The top of the ladder. Unique items are one-offs tied to a specific event, release or promotion, and they are not reliably re-obtainable. This is the smallest and least tradeable tier in the game — a Unique is something you keep, not something you move around.

Where people get this wrong

Three mistakes come up constantly:

  • Assuming rarer means stronger. It does not. Rarity is a collection and trading axis, nothing else. A default knife kills exactly as well as a Godly one.
  • Treating third-party value lists as current. Community value figures for individual weapons swing constantly with event drops, code availability and player sentiment. Any site quoting exact values is publishing its own snapshot, not an official figure. Use the rarity tier as the stable frame of reference and check current community discussion before any trade.
  • Trading outside the official system. Trade only through MM2's in-game trade flow. Off-platform trades are how accounts get scammed, and how people lose accounts to impersonation. There is no safe version of "trust me, I'll send it after."

How the tiers are actually useful

Used properly, the rarity ladder answers one question well: is this item worth thinking about? When someone offers you a Legendary for your two Godlies, the rarity tiers tell you immediately that this is a real offer and worth checking. When someone offers you a Rare for a Godly, the tiers tell you to decline without needing to look anything up.

What they do not do is tell you the right price. That is the volatile part, and it is the part worth spending time on community discussion for if a trade is significant to you.

Quick FAQ

What is the rarest knife in Murder Mystery 2?

Rarity is tiered, and the top tier is Unique — one-off items tied to a specific event or release that are not reliably re-obtainable. Exact items rotate over time as new content lands, so check current community tier lists rather than trusting a fixed answer.

Does a Godly knife do more damage than a Common one?

No. Weapons in MM2 are cosmetic. Damage and behaviour come from the role you are playing, not the skin you are holding.

What is the difference between Godly and Ancient?

Ancient is the higher of the two tiers. If you are unsure where an item sits, verify it before trading — trading on a wrong tier assumption is one of the most common ways people lose good items.

Are MM2 values ever official?

No. Value figures come from community trading and shift with supply and demand. Treat any quoted number as a snapshot from an unofficial source, not as something Roblox publishes.

What is the rarest tier in MM2?

Unique sits at the top of the rarity ladder, above Ancient and Godly, and contains the least obtainable items in the game.

MM2 has been running since January 2014 and its weapon catalogue now runs to well over a thousand items, which is exactly why ranking by a stable rarity tier beats ranking by a value number that changes every week.
