The premise is three words long: every step adds +1 Speed. The depth is in what you buy with it.
Speed is your movement stat. Wins are the currency you earn from yellow pads after each stage and spend on trails, auras and teleports. Speed Level is your training tier and gates the worlds - World 2 wants level 140, World 3 wants level 400.
Rebirth resets Speed Level but grants a permanent multiplier on all future gains, stacking multiplicatively with trails and auras. Rebirth at the threshold, not on a schedule - the multiplier compounds, so a late rebirth is a much bigger loss than an early one.
Treadmills at spawn let you farm Speed without playing, and the Daily Treadmill bonus is free training. Logging in daily and claiming the treadmill is the cheapest progress in the game.
